Activated Carbon (AC) Filters

We offer this system in three types: Fleck, Siata and our own Gemu Multi Valve control arrangements this enables the media to be automatically backwashed by Time or Volume this will depend on the application.

This unit is typically filled with Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) this is made up of Coconut Husks, Coal and Bone they are Heat treated in the absence of “Oxygen” and this process creates the “Activated” Carbon. GAC works using micro pockets in the granule surface structure to absorbing soluble impurities and hang onto them, eventually the micro pockets fill and the media needs to be replaced.

Backwashing the Carbon helps extend the life of the Carbon by causing the loose materials to be ejected with the backwash water.

AC Filters are used to Remove Chlorine, Organics and Improve the Taste and Odour of Water to get the best results you will need a Water Contact Time of at least 3 Minutes with the Carbon.
