Water Hardness is determined by the amount of Calcium and Magnesium that is dissolved in the water. The more present these elements are, the harder the water is.

The total water hardness is divided into either temporary or permanent hardness.

Between the two, the temporary hardness is the cause of many problems and contributes to the formation of scale. Processes such as water temperature changes and pressure difference in pipes and fittings help contribute to the build-up of lime scale that is released in the form of micro crystals.

This can cause many issues in systems and units such as:

  • Boilers
  • Reverse Osmosis Systems
  • Humidifiers
  • Dishwashers
  • Washing Machines
  • Thermostats
  • and more

The presence of lime scale can also reduce the efficiency of cleaning chemicals, affect the heating of water and slows the operation of equipment such as RO Plants.

To help assist with the removal of these minerals and build up, a variety of commercial and industrial water softeners are available to meet many production requirements.

The benefits of these systems not only offer a reduction in lime scale, they can extend the life of your equipment and also help reduce running costs.
